Korumdie: Undiscovered Pamir

This remote area at the southern outskirts of the former Soviet Union was closed to foreigners for the last two hundred years and its peaks have remained largely unknown. Grandiose mountain and ice scenery characterise this range with beautiful Zarya Vostoka (6349 m), the main peak Korumdie (6613 m) and four other unnamed summits in excess of 6000m near the border with China and Tajikistan.
Wild, empty and virgin valleys with crystal clear springs have greeted the few who came to explore. Multi-coloured alpine flowers contrast with the green of meadows and the blue of the skies. Inquisitive marmots approach your tent as they have hardly seen any people before.

Storm over Korumdie

During the last years some British and Russian expeditions, organised by "Asia Mountains", have attempted the higher summits but distances and weather did allow exploratory attempts only. Some camp locations, approaches, passes and the lower peaks are now known. We therefore invite you to further explore this new area: unclimbed summits are awaiting you! There are not many places left on earth which offer such remoteness and wild beauty as well as virgin mountains.

"Asia Mountains" will organise: visa support, registration, access permit; airport meeting in Bishkek, hotel or guest house in town; transport via Osh to base camp, the organisation of the camp including food preparation, and interpreter. Guides and porters may be available at extra cost. Prices and other details by prior arrangement.

Clients must provide mountain rescue insurance and bring their own personal (rucksack, sleeping bag, etc.), climbing/ mountaineering, camping and 1st aid equipment. All activities beyond base camp are your own responsibility. Summit success can not be guaranteed.
