Ala-Archa 4000 Metre Peaks

The beautiful Ala-Archa mountains in the central Kyrgyz Alatau range, only 40km south of Bishkek, are easily and quickly reached from the capital. Many peaks here are alpine in height and character as are the glaciers: a perfect destination for those fed up with the overcrowded Alps.

A base camp is usually located close to the Ratseka Hut at 3200m. Nearby are a dozen worthwhile tops, amongst them: Semenova Tien-Shanskova (4895 m), the splendid Corona (4691 m), Peak Free Korea (4777 m) and almost a dozen further 4000m summits, many of them rather reminiscent of the famous Chamonix aiguilles.

Here is the chance to climb some of these mountains on routes which range from the easiest scree/ snow walks to the hardest rock, ice or mixed routes. Numerous climbs of all grades on solid granite are also available. Mountaineers of all standards will find ample opportunity to enjoy Kyrgyz climbing. Two bivouac shelters at 4000m can be used to shorten approaches to routes.

Camps can be organised between June and September for up to 35 days. Clients must bring their own personal (rucksack, sleeping bag, etc.), climbing and 1st aid equipment. "Asia Mountains" organises all formalities, the short transfer from Bishkek, porters to the camp and food preparation; also interpreter and one local guide.
